Overview of the GCRF

The GCRF supports research which promotes the economic development and welfare of people in lower and middle income countries. Current CHALLENGES include:

  • Secure and resilient food systems supported by sustainable agriculture
  • Sustainable health and well being
  • Inclusive and equitable quality education
  • Clean air, water and sanitation
  • Renewable energy and materials

£1.5 billion will be allocated through GCRF to support excellent research informing sustainable and scalable IMPACT.

The GCRF is designed to encourage multidisciplinary research that offers a holistic, whole-system view of these challenges, and generates new insights into how they could be tackled.

"Recognising the inter-connected and complex nature of development challenges and the need to cut across silos, GCRF is a new and very different way of funding research, which puts IMPACT centre stage …" Mark S Reed – GCFR Blog Post

Audience: The event is open to research staff and PG students and is suitable for those who have experience of international development research and those interested in exploring new opportunities for their research.
